DAY BY DAY PROGRAM

Day 01: AIRPORT – KALPITIYA
On arrival the guests will be met at the airport arrival lobby and set off to the Kalpitiya!!

Check into your hotel where the rest of the evening will be at leisure.

Day 02: KALPITIYA
At leisure in Kalpitiya.

Optional Activities:

Day 03: KALPITIYA – HIRIWADUNA – HABARANA
After breakfast, proceed to Habarana.

Enjoy a village experience with a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. A bullock cart ride will take visitors through the village of Hiriwadunna, to a banana plantation where ripe bananas can be tasted and savoured fresh. Cross a scenic reservoir by oruwa (traditional boat), its long, narrow shape gliding effortlessly on the water, to visit a chena cultivation, where in the shade of a tree house of mud and thatched palm leaves, the village of Hiriwadunna can be surveyed. On the return journey guests can drop by the house of a native and enjoy aromatic ginger tea and Jaggery. The next stop will be a visit to an authentic local cottage industry to witness the skilful carving of caricatures from old tree roots. Everyone will get a chance to carve his or her own token.
Afterwards enjoy an Elephant Back Safari through the jungles of Habarana.

Day 04: HABARANA – SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA – MINNERIYA – HABARANA
Early morning proceed to Sigiriya – Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This is one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. A mythical past of feuding dynasties suits Sigiriya’s striking setting- it was built in 5th century AD by king, Kasyapa, as a fortress-palace. Worthy of being called the “8th wonder of the world”, Sigiriya will astonish anyone with its outstandingly beautiful views, staggering engineering and peerless design.

After descending the Sigiriya Rock, proceed to Polonnaruwa and see the monuments including the Royal Palace & Audience Halls of King Parakramabahu I (1153-1186 A. D.) and King Nissankamalla (1187-1196 A.D.).  Thuparama, Vata-da-ge, Heta-da-ge, Pabalu Vehera, Siva Devala, Rankot Vehera, Baddhasima-prasada, Lankatilake, Gal Vihara – to see the 4 rock-cut Buddha statues, Tivanka Image House-for beautiful 12th C.A.D. murals on the walls etc. and the old Hospital where surgical instruments were found.

On completion, proceed to the Minneriya National park for a Jeep Safari

Day 05: HABARANA – DAMBULLA – MATALE – ELKADUWA
On completion proceed to Kandy via Dambulla. Discover the Dambulla Caves Rock Temple dated from First Century B.C.
En route Visit an exotic Spice Garden in Matale where you can be treated to a garden tour and cooking demonstration to understand the taste and aroma of the world famous spices. Also take time to see the art of batik -the ancient art of dyeing cloth using a resist. Dutch traders were so impressed by this craft that in 1835, they brought Batik artists back to Holland with them when they returned from trading trips.

Day 06: ELKADUWA
At leisure in Elkaduwa.

Day 07: ELDADUWA – KITHULGALA – NEGOMBO
After breakfast proceed to Negombo via Kithulgala.

Optional Activity:

  • White Water Rafting

On completion return to Negombo. The Negombo town has several buildings dating back to the Dutch and Portuguese colonial days. The sea and catamarans are the backdrop of the Negombo scenery. The lagoon is famous for its harvest of lobsters, crabs and prawns and the fish auctions on the beach are worth a look. Also visit the Dutch Fort and a Catholic Church.

Day 08:    NEGOMBO – AIRPORT
Check out of the hotel and proceed to the Airport for departure. Arrive at the airport 2 hours before fight departure
